Class Levels

Ages: 1 to 3 years

Tadpoles I
In this level the kids will get in the water with one of the parent creating a very special bonding experience between them. We believe that being in such environment will help the kids to bond and socialize with other kids at an early age while being introduced to the aquatic environment. At this level we focus on adaptation to the aquatic environment and socialization among the kids.

Tadpoles II
Besides Adaptation and socialization, on Tadpoles II level the kids will be introduced to the displacement concept and breath control. The kids will still be in company of a parent and every aspect taught in the first level will be reviewed.

Tadpoles III
This is the first level where the kids are no longer in company with a parent during their lesson. At this time a more individualized lesson will be enforced. The kids will have a certain degree of autonomy in order to find out certain aspects that will prepare them for the next level.
The basic fundaments at this level are: Breath Control, Floatation and movements involving arms and legs.

Ages: 3 to 5 years

Guppies

This is where we start teaching the kids the first technical aspects of the swimming strokes such as freestyle kick and pull. At this level, we aim to improve the basic skills learned in the previous levels teaching stroke specific breathing patterns, dives, legs and arms propulsion.

Ages: 5 to 8 years

Clown Fish

As a Clown Fish one must be able to perform the basic freestyle mechanic and will be introduced to the backstroke. Kids at this level will start to swim the full length of the pool (25 yards) and will be introduced to start and turns technique.

Toadfish
It will be at this particular level where kids will be introduced to the complex swimming movements in order to develop a full coordination for the 4 swimming strokes and their respective turns, including butterfly.

Parrotfish

Parrotfishes already dominate all 4 swimming strokes mechanics! In this level the kids will be reviewing the swimming skills learned along the way focusing on the improvement of stroke mechanics, starts and turns for all the strokes which will result in a better overall athletic conditioning. Upon completion, kids finishing at this level will be ready to start their competitive swimming endeavors in minor leagues such as local summer leagues.

Ages: 9 to 12 years

Sunfish
This group is designed for kids who lack basic swimming skills and/or have experienced any swimming related fear, however, are older than the age required to join the previous levels. Kids in this group will be introduced or re-introduced to the aquatic environment, as well as learn the basic breath control skills progressing up to the basic legs and arms propulsion concept.

Lionfish
The Lionfish level provides kids with little swimming experience an opportunity to enhance their swimming abilities. At this level, each kid will learn stroke mechanics such as kick, pull, specific breathing patterns, underwater kicking, starts, turns and stroke coordination drills.

Ages: 12 & Older

Swordfish

The highest level in the Planet Swim Teaching Method, the Swordfish focus on development of each kid’s aerobic conditioning and improve stroke mechanics while preparing them to join any competitive swim team in the Planet!
